Dear Precious Child,
I don’t know you. You only exist in my heart and in my prayers. You haven’t been conceived and you haven’t been thought of by anyone except for me and maybe your grandparents and daddy. I don’t know your daddy yet so I wonder who he is going to be. I wonder if you are going to be a boy or a girl. I wonder if your eyes will be green like mine. I wonder if you will have dirty blonde hair like I have now, or blonde hair like I had when I was little. Heck, maybe you’ll have black hair or red hair but that would be up to your daddy! It’s funny how bad I want you. It’s weird that I already really love you. This world is kind of a scary place and who knows where you will be born and where we will live, but I am praying for you everyday.
I pray everyday that life will come easier for you than it did for me. I had some rough times probably because it took me a while to learn how to trust God. There were a lot of things about Jesus that I didn’t know until I got to college, but it’s okay because I know now. Your Mommy is learning how to love Jesus with everything. I am really seeking him and spending a lot of time with him these days. I can’t wait until I can tell you about what I am experiencing now because I know I will never forget this awesome time in my life. I struggled a lot but everything is making me so strong now. I just hope and pray that you don’t give in to Satan when he tries to harm you, and please, baby, never settle.
I pray that you will have an amazing daddy, but don’t worry, my dear, I promise I will not settle for a lazy man, or a man who doesn’t love and serve God. If I get my way (and I usually do) he will love Jesus more than he loves anybody (even you and me). There are a lot of fathers who set on the sidelines and just watch the years fly by. I pray that your daddy will actually be involved in every aspect of your life, and the life of any little brothers or sisters you may have. I’ll make sure he looks decent too so you wont have anything weird going on. ;) I’m just kidding, baby! You are going to be the most gorgeous creation ever! I promise to you that I will be totally committed to your daddy forever. I want to give you the best of everything and come hell or high water I will love your daddy forever.
I pray that you will love God. I really want for you to know God. I don’t want for you to just hear the stories and take them as fairy tales of some sort. I want you to have an intimate relationship with God. I want for others to see God in you. I want for you to grow up knowing that in Christ you can do anything and everything. I can’t wait to teach you about Jesus! I can’t wait to watch you learn about grace. I can’t wait to watch you get baptized! I can’t wait to celebrate your spiritual birthdays with you!
I pray that you always know how much I love you. We’re probably going to have fights when you become a teenager, and chances are they will be stupid fights. I know the fights I had with my parents were pretty dumb. I will always be on your side. You cannot lose me. There is nothing you can do to make me stop loving you, because you are mine and I will love your for the rest of eternity.
Well little one, I guess I will hold you in my arms in a few years. I’ll try to give you an awesome name that you will like but first I have to see your cute little face. Just know that I am patiently waiting for you and praying for you. Can’t wait to meet you!
Love,
Mommy.
